The question that arises is: What will it be like... when people in Africa are already struggling to make ends meet and don't have enough to eat?

Soylent Green? Ebola and Corona? The Mediterranean Sea teeming with bodies?

In 2018, alongside the absurdly chaotic planning and execution of development aid to Africa, around 10,000 Chinese companies were already active in Africa. Key terms used to describe Chinese involvement include: raw materials, sales markets, loans, dependencies, planned bankruptcy, and, of course, political influence and military presence. Power. From a Chinese perspective, this makes sense. From a Western perspective, the question then becomes: Why not just disconnect the whole thing and let it drift? It's worked before. But wait: Markets!
